clearly conveys the mood of the film,” says
Agni Sridhar who has also penned the story and screenplay of the film. “When translated, Thamassu roughly means a cruel mind that turns to meditation. Shivanna plays a violent man in the film. But he resorts to violence only to fight the evil,” explains the director. And while Sridhar is known for his ‘real’ films and has also written the scripts for Aa Dinagalu and Slum Bala, will the audience see Shivanna wield the longu-macchu in this one? “He won’t be seen with a longu in this film,” laughs Sridhar adding, “the story gives out a positive message.” Also in the cast are two heroines and both support the hero in his mission. “It’s a real-life incident that occurred in Gujarat and I’ve made it the premise of my film. But it also has cinematic elements to make it appealing to viewers,” sums up Sridhar. Thamassu will go on the floors on October 23.

‘ನಾನು ಶಿವರಾಜ್‌ಕುಮಾರ್ ಸಿನಿಮಾ ತೆಗೆಯುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಆಗ ಯಾವ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಯಾರದ್ದೇ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಚಿತ್ರ ಬಂದರೂ ಸವಾಲಿಗೆ ಸಿದ್ಧ. ನನ್ನ ಚಿತ್ರವನ್ನು ಗೆಲ್ಲಿಸುವುದು ಖಚಿತ...’ ಹೀಗೆ ಸವಾಲು ಹಾಕಿದ್ದು ಅಗ್ನಿ ಶ್ರೀಧರ್. ‘ಕಳ್ಳರ ಸಂತೆ’ ಚಿತ್ರದ ಹಾಡುಗಳ ಧ್ವನಿಸುರುಳಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಿ.ಡಿ. ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಸಮಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀಧರ್ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಂವಾದವೊಂದಕ್ಕೆ ನಾಂದಿ ಹಾಡಿದರು.

ಶ್ರೀಧರ್ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಕನ್ನಡ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳು ಸೋಲಲು ಮುಖ್ಯ ಕಾರಣ ಪರಭಾಷಾ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳ ಹಾವಳಿ. ನಮ್ಮ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳು ಬೇರೆ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಯಾಗದೇ ಇದ್ದಮೇಲೆ, ಅವರ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನಾವು ಯಾಕೆ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು ಎಂಬುದು ಅವರ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ. ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಇದನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿಯವರೆಗೆ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ ಎಂದು ಪರಿಗಣಿಸದೇ ಇರುವುದು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಅಚ್ಚರಿಯ ಸಂಗತಿ.

‘ಮಗಧೀರ’ ತೆಲುಗು ಚಿತ್ರ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಯಾಗಿ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಕನ್ನಡ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳ ಗಳಿಕೆಗೆ ಪೆಟ್ಟು ಕೊಟ್ಟಿತು ಎಂಬ ವಾದವನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡು ಶ್ರೀಧರ್ ತಮ್ಮ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯವನ್ನು ಮುಂದಿಟ್ಟರು. ಕನ್ನಡ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳ ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟ ಸುಧಾರಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂಬ ಸಂಗತಿಯನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿದ ಅವರು, ದೊಡ್ಡ ಮಾರುಕಟ್ಟೆ ಇರುವ ತೆಲುಗು, ತಮಿಳು ಚಿತ್ರಗಳು ತಾಂತ್ರಿಕ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತಿಕೆಯೊಡನೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಕನ್ನಡ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳಿಗೆ ಪೆಟ್ಟು ಕೊಡುತ್ತಿವೆ ಎಂದರು.

‘ಕಳ್ಳರ ಸಂತೆ’ ಆದಮೇಲೆ ‘ಎದೆಗಾರಿಕೆ’ ಎಂಬ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಕಥೆಯನ್ನು ಅವರು ಸಿದ್ಧಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನಂತರ ಶಿವರಾಜ್‌ಕುಮಾರ್ ನಾಯಕತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಸ ಚಿತ್ರವನ್ನು ತಾವೇ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಿಸುವುದಾಗಿ ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ತಮಗೆ ಯಾರೇ ಆಗಲಿ ಹದಿನೆಂಟು ಕೋಟಿ ರೂಪಾಯಿ ಬಂಡವಾಳ ಕೊಟ್ಟರೆ ಸಾಕು, ಹತ್ತು ‘ಮಗಧೀರ’ಗಳಿಗೂ ಮೀರಿದ ಸಿನಿಮಾ ಮಾಡುವುದಾಗಿಯೂ ಅವರು ಸವಾಲೊಡ್ಡಿದರು.

After Kallara Santhe, Sridhar will direct Shivarajkumar in a movie, based on a Hindu-Muslim story. "Shivanna plays a tough and sincere cop," says Sridhar, with a smile. You simply can't have the Hat-trick Hero playing anything but good cop, right?
